No, no Billy Barty..he's still dead.
MY Midget. A couple or three months ago on a warm afternoon I had adjusted
the needles on my SU's and installed a new (used) distributor on the Midget.
It ran great in the driveway, but when I backed out for a test drive, it died
and would not start!
It's been sitting in the driveway, where I pushed it, ever since.
Saturday I charged the battery and started looking for things wrong. It
still would not start and I noticed the electric fuel pump (new) was just
popping away non-stop. A look under the hood shows fuel streaming from the
new see-through fuel filter. Could this be the problem?
YES! It starts and runs pretty good now. Still has a little hesitation, and
kind of low on umph at speed...slows up on the steep hills....but still a
blast. I'll change the plugs next week end, and maybe even have a try at
adjusting the valves...they are a bit noisy.
Installed the early taillights I picked up in Norristown..way cooler than 74
....
ALso, I ripped out the console, and installed the older model replacement I
bought, in beautiful stainless steel, along with an AM/FM...but got called in
by SWMBO to go to Easter dinner before I could finish.
All in all a good weekend for the Midget, and now I'm back in the mood to
work on it.
Guess I'll have to change my signature file...
