Hi Mike.
Because the input shaft on the rib case protrudes further out of the case
than does the smooth case one, it's best to change the thin backing plate
to the thick cast one 1098 type. 1275 one will work with the 1275 oil pump
cover and 1275 gasket. No problem with the pilot bush. Use the 948 TO
Bearing. 948 flywheel and clutch are OK. 1275 won't fit anyway! Too many
bolt holes!

What's involved with going from smoothcase on a 948 to a ribcase
transmission. Is it just a new backplate and flywheel? What about the
pilot bearing? Anyone done this recently?
