In fairness to the folks at LBCarCo. The halogens they sell are not
(exclusively) headlights. They carry halogen bulbs for taillights, turn
indicators, even dash bulbs!
Also, there are two ways to go with a Halogen set up, on is a "Sealed
Beam Halogen", which is a standard sealed beam headlamp shell with a
halogen bulb instead of a regular filament. That's what Frank is
recommending, what I use, and they >>are<< brighter.
However, if you want to get really bright, though, go with a halogen
conversion, which consists of a reflector and lens shell with a
connector at the back to take a halogen capsule (like the set-up on
current cars). These can be MUCH brighter (enough to be illegal in come
cases), and will put a strain on the generator if you get too radical.
You can get up to 120 watts on a side, which is a LOT of illumination!
All that being said, the best "bang for the buck" seems to be (in this
order):
Make sure you've got good grounds.
Make sure the connectors are all clean and tight (all the way back to
and including the fuse block).
Sealed Beam Halogens.
Still not enough? Then go to headlight relays with heavier gauge wire
providing the power.
STILL not enough? Spend the big bucks on halogen conversions.
