need
a cross flow 1275 Radiator, a water cross over pipe. The intake/exhaust are
on opposite sides, so the heater box will have to be swapped 180 degrees or
removed. The wiring harness fittings will be on opposite sides of the
engine compartment too. If you have bought any parts for the 1500...like
motor mounts, clutch, tranny mounts, etc., they won't work. Add an electric
fuel pump, and the wiring to power it. You literally would be building the
car from scratch. The only way I'd attempt this would be if I had a
complete 69-74 Midget with a basket case body and good mechanicals, and a
latter car with an excellent body and no drivetrain. >>
Besides all that, the 1500 is really a good little engine. Best idea is to
keep the car intact with its 1500 and buy a second earlier model with a 1275
if you want to go that route. Or trade or sell the 1500 vehicle and acquire
a good 1275.
