possibly i over reacted about sanding bearings , but i think not! a bearing is a precision cast and then machined surface. raised surfaces and scored groves or not, you can not sand a bearing surface and restore any type of precision surface as designed. it would cost next to nothing while apart to replace the scored bearing. even if it were a "last known example on earth" there are companys out there who repour babbit and remachine bearing shells to specific tolerances. chuck. |
