Has ANYONE ever thought of /heard of replacing the lower wishbone and outer
'fulcrum' pin with a fabricated wishbone and a steel pin into phosphor
bronze bushes or similar. The Frontline kit has kept my own suspension in
perfect condition now for many years( as it is regularly greased and the top
arm stops any twisting loads on the pin) but I've always thought it a poor
method of construction. Surely a plain fulcrum pin into a plain bush would
retain surface contact over a larger surface area for longer? In theory the
threads give a larger contact surface area but I would imagine they soon
become the source of wear. Is there any reason it hasn't been done? Am I
missing something? How about cutting off the outer end of the wishbone,
getting a new kingpin cast with a longer hole reamed through the bottom end
and then welding on longer 'tubes' to the edges of the wishbone? Bigger
bore fulcrum pins?
Would there be a market for these?
Would you buy some if they were available?
