Disc Braking efficiency =

Braking torque to weight ratio

Co-efficient of friction, eg pad area + 'bite' of friction material

Pressure/load applied - pads to disc eg subject to working ratios in
hydraulics, input pressure from foot with or without servo/power booster
assistance

ability of disc and to lesser extent caliper to 'lose heat/cool down' to
within the working range of the material

Brake fluid to lose heat/cool down to within its boiling point (which goes
down with age/water absorbtion)

SO, anyone of a number of ways to improve the braking distance of your
Spridget all of which have limitations one way or the other.

Vented disc will not work with standard caliper, at the least will require
spacer to compensate for extra thickness of the vented disc.

A contradiction

<< The brake fade that some people have been experiencing is probably due to
old fluid, not to bad brakes.

Yes

<<Keep in mind that most fluids (like Castrol LMA) have relatively low
boiling points >>

NO

DOT 5.1 fluid is ok (Ed is it OK??)
