OOPPPS, almost missed replying to the opening gambit (aside from the bag o 
worms bit..I was just trying to stir up the list a little, and I did just 
receive the story and thought it was important to spead).
I think it is indeed relevant to those of us in the United States because I 
truly think that there are a great number of narrow thinking people in the US 
that would just as soon have guns outlawed altogether.  I say narrow and 
unthinking because I live just north of a country where private ownership of 
a gun is almost impossible, but public machine gunnings are almost common 
place.  A young mother just died last week in Juarez when the shooters (not 
leagal owners of any weapons) offed a fellow drug dealer and sprayed down the 
neighboring filling station at the same time.
I would not join the NRA for years and did not want to be considered a "gun 
nut" but it seems clear to me now that there is an agenda being pushed that 
will regester, then restrict, and finally outlaw gun ownership.
