Hi Bill,
The gears themselves will have part numbers on them. A few won't but
likely the ones that always fail will have the numbers on them. They are
usually a bit pricey, too.

22G 671 is the part number for the shifter remote housing.
The entire gearbox assemble should be part # 38G 430N up to engine #
12V/671Z/101, after that the gearbox number is #38G 514N,
