Flounders sharing his life threatening experience with us, and the cause
there of, should be a wake up call to us all. Many of us already check
our cars out before a race (of any type). But there's no guarantee
something won't break.
But how many actually have a roll bar in case we do get upside down? I
think WMS would say that's what saved him. Our club requires a bar on
ALL open cockpit cars. No exceptions! Apart from my Corvettes, I've
had them in all my open cars. The TR8 is slated for one just as soon as
I get it on the road. Not because I'll be racing it... but because I've
been upside down twice and know that had it not been for the roll bar or
cage, I may well not be here today.
Even if you don't drive in competition or drive "spirited", it's money
WELL spent! PERIOD
