Just some notes on my Bugeye's gas mileage.
Over the past few months I have been keeping track of my gas mileage (97 HP
(flywheel) 1312, 40 DCOE) and it has been consistent at 21 MPG.
After I installed the Igniter ignition it jumped to 26 MPG.
I've been driving it to work to get some mileage on it and the only way
Sandi will ride with me in the morning is if the hardtop is on. With the
hardtop installed the mileage jumps to between 30 and 31.
I've also been running both a stock 6 blade plastic fan and an electric fan.
I removed what was left of the 6 blade plastic fan last week and it will be
interesting to see what effect that has on the mileage.
The electric fan was mounted in the bonnet when I was running both. After
removing the mechanical fan I remounted the electric to the radiator. It
will be interesting to see how Bryan's works out with the 1.5" gap he has.
Maybe he is still running the mechanical fan also.
Anybody know of an electric fan thermostat with a 5/8" UNF sending unit that
would screw into the down flow?
On a small block V8 you typically pick up between 1.5 and 2.5 HP (flywheel)
by going to an electric fan. I don't know how much it helps a small engine
like the A series.
