Hello Listers
Since last weekend's annoyance which was suspected to be fuel starvation of
some kind I have replaced or checked almost all the fuel system components.
And I still have the problem. However, a new suggestion has just surfaced
that I would like to place before the collected wisdom and experience of
the group.
The suggestion is that when running under continous load (4000+ RPM in 5th
gear) the coil (or another ignition component) is breaking down. After a
brief rest/cool down period by way of coasting for 2-300 yards it goes back
to working fine. The process is repeated every 3-5 miles. Keep in mind
the engine never quits running. I have a Lucas sport coil DLB105 and an
Aldon dizzy both with less than 3000 miles on them.
Any thoughts?
