Hello Ed,
I suppose that you saw my reply to Brad, so I don't really think
that this is it. I am more inclined to think that it has to do with the
throw of the push rod in the master and slave cylinders. One reply that I
received was quite derisive of my reference to the fire wall flexing, and
whilst I am inclined to agree that whatever worked before we changed the
clutch assembly should also work now, I am also of the opinion that even
the small increments of throw that we can achieve, by whatever methods, may
be cumulative, and therefore produce the amount of throw required to
activate the throw out bearing on the pressure plate. We appear to have
about 5/8" of rod travel, at either end, and that just isn't quite
enough. After we removed the pedal assembly we discovered that the pin,
that the ring in the end of the rod in the m/c fits into, is badly
worn. So, that is being welded up and turned down again, and the pedal
assembly is slightly bent, so we are straightening that too. These
adjustments may be sufficient, we'll have to see.
Sorry about the cold Ed, take lots of lemon, honey and scotch. A
wonderful drink that is guaranteed to either drown the bugs, or make you so
happy that you don't care about them anyway.
