Check the 'spacer' material between the leaves of the spring. They ought to
be long enough that the leaves don't come into contact with each other as
this creates friction that will wear sections of the springs away. This is
why I had to get a new set for my 1275. The Moss set that I got from
Bristol U.K. were not identical in their construction due to shorter spacers
in one spring. My Pre-war car books recommend using zinc or copper strips
to keep the leaves apart. I guess the modern answer is to use plastics?
Waterloo DTR make new clamps to secure the leaves (or so I am told)
No financial interest etc. etc.
