Back again!!! After resolving (I think) the flywheel problem, I am tooling
right along, muffler crackling, engine humming (somewhat), and about 4 miles
from home I look in my rear view mirror. ARGH!!! SMOKE!!! Tons and tons
of smoke laying behind me like a morning fog. It's coming from ME because it
isnt in front of me--its behind me!!!
Pull over and check the tailpipe--nothing coming out of there--its coming
from UNDER the car! Kneel down on all 4, peek under the car--OIL is POURING
out!!!! Sh*t!!! Check oil with stick--1 quart low--check oil pressure
light--it is off--oil pressure still OK. Hop in and drive home--park the
Midget and put paper under the engine to catch the runs. Checking the
engine, I can see that the entire front of the oil pan is soaked with oil.
Either the oil pan seal has blown in front or the front crank seal must be
toast. I won't have time to look at it until next week, but ain't life
interesting when you keep hopping suddenly from one problem to another?
Makes me wonder if this is tied somehow to the first problem (the flywheel).
--Oh well!! Here I go again!! Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks for
listening!!
