Thanks Chuck, I do not have points. The Pertronix was put in because the
shaft bushes were worn, and the Pertronix unit has a lttle more tolerence
for the worn bushes than a points setup does. I was told at the time that
the Pertronix was a temporary fix and I would eventually need a new
dizzy. I am sure that the shaft is wobbling more now than it was then.
The evidence I point to is a raised lip on the end of the rotor. Like it
is rubbing against the contacts in the cap. This can not be good. I just
came back in from looking again and I can actually wobble the shaft by
moving the rotor back and forth. So my questions are still can I replace
the bushes or am stuck looking for a new dizzy?
Kevin V just emailed me about it and I responded that I would try a set
of points. However after seeing that I can wobble the shaft, I do not
think points is gonna fix it right now.
