The Ital 9(?) inch discs fit onto Marina hubs. Marina hubs can be fitted to
Minor stubs by the use of an Owen Burton adapter and a set of new tapered
bearings. Minor stubs fit into A35/Frogeye hubs. Mr Burton sells new
Marina hubs with the correct PCD for Minor wheels, which means the same as
Frogeyes too. The Girling callipers have a larger pad surface area. KB is
cleaning up a set for me now but is also looking at using the 4-pot
callipers from the Metro. Since the Marina/Ital is based on the MGB
mechanicals, it is safe to assume that the brakes are easily capable of
exceeding the stopping power of the later Midgets.
Bought 2 Metro callipers for £2 each($3 US) and a pair of hubs with
knackered discs for £11 ($8). I might use Marina/Ital wheels on the front
if the Offset is the same. I also have a set of 10 inch by 2.5 inch width
front drums, springs, backplates etc with all new wheel cylinders for a
Frogeye, to swap. Looking for a supercharger now that I've sold the Metro
Turbo bits.
Can find out more measurements if required.
Ital discs available at any decent shop over here. Bearings with adapter
etc is £36, the hubs remachined to the correct PCD are £17.50 each. There
is a Ford kit too. JJB at Waterloo might know more about these over on your
side of the water?
