Happy new year's eve all....millennium or otherwise...
Last week on the list, someone playing on eBay asked about 'Imagination
Engineering', well, here's a synopsis of my experience with them.
Went after a Midget glovebox, 'won' it for 22 bucks. I sent a e-mail asking
if it included mounting hardware, and was told yes. I specifically
requested in three e-mails that the item be sent US post rather than UPS -
which creates additional taxes and duties at Canada customs as UPS send
through to a broker, whereas mail, eventually, just sails on thru..
Well, it arrived UPS (argh), so in addition to the original cost, and
shipping - and exchange (the Cdn dollar is 1.48 US), I got dinged by
customs and the broker.
Then I opened the package. I realize the world's a caveat emptor kinda
place, but all my other dealing with eBay sellers has been most positive.
The unit they sent, apart from being filthy, was damaged(several cracks and
holes along the padded rib across the door), worn, torn, latching mechanism
siezed, no key and - no mounting hardware. Now, they did make a disclaimer
on eBay about 'bidding on a used item that may not be perfect' - but this
was ridiculous.
Their attitude? Apathetic. 'Yup, we screwed up on the shipping', but no
offers of restitution, or even appologies!
Geeze.
My advice to eBay-ers - be cautious in your dealings with 'Imagination
Engineering'.
You may recall a few weeks back that Moss had sent me mis-matched outter
door window seals. Well, the distributor appologized, and rectified by
sending another - and it's wrong too!
Who needs Y2K bugs - I've enough frustration!!
Anyway, I keep reminding myself that the car is a hobby, for
relaxation....and I keep seeing that sixties poster with the two
vultures..one is turning to the other and saying, "patience my ass, I'm
gonna kill something!"
Well, not really. Here's to a happy new year to all. I've only been on the
list since late October, and have met a great bunch of people, gotten some
great advice - and even some great parts through the list..
Here's to 2000!
