Having the unfortunate situation of smashing the front of my 74 midget 3
years ago, I got the wonderful fortune of M*ss shipping me one pre-70, and
one post 70 model fender. (fortunately, they were also dumb enough to ship a
third fender in the same crate at no charge...duh). Here is first hand
observations:
Mk1 Midget until split bumper cars turn indicator light is higher than on
the split bumper cars by about 3/4". No other difference on English cars.
US spec cars add holes for side marker lights begining with split bumper
cars (about 1970-late 74). RB cars have no turn indicator provision, but a
large rectangular hole where the bumper bracket passes through the fender.
These would bolt on to an earlier car, but would require some creativity
(weld up bumper bracket holes, add non-stock turn indicators). The turn
indicators on 70-74 cars were lowered to center them between the headlamps
and the bumper when the skinnier bumpers were fitted. (substitute "wing"
for "fender" as appropriate depending on which side of the pond/version of
the queens language you choose).
