Tire Tube Advice needed

A while back I bought a nice older set of
real Minilite wheels. They have a LARGE
hole for the stem. It looks original, not like
they were drilled. Standard stems don't fit
and screw on valve stems don't work either
as the casting is THICK.  The only thing I find
that would work is screw on stems from a 
truck wheel but they're ugly.

My conclusion is to use tubes with these
wheels. Any recommendations as to what
tires might work well with tubes on an early 
Bugeye? Are some tires more suitable?
