Eric: Cylinder 1 is the very first cylinder at the front of the engine. You
can find the distributor wire for cylinder 1 by putting a long dowel into the
spark plug hole for cylinder 1 and turning the engine over until the dowel
rises as far up as it will go. That is TDC (top dead center) for cylinder
1. The rotory button inside the distributor will be pointed at wire 1 (You
have to have the distributor cap off when you do this so you can see the
rotor position). The next wire going clockwise on the distrubutor will be
the next cylinder in the firing order, not cylinder #2, and so on. If you
havent already, it would be worthwhile investing in a good shop manual like
Haynes--it will help immeasurably in your road to a running Sprite.

copper wire or some sort of fusable link. What is the gauge? >>
I am not sure of the guage, some other lister may supply that, but it is a
standard coated copper wire.
