Well it's been about six months and...... "I'm back!"  And unfortunately
with more of the same questions I'm sure you've all heard before.

Has anyone had problems getting an MSD ignition system (6AL) to work with a
seventies era electronic (inductive pickup) Smiths tachs?
My tach is the one that has the positive 12 volt input from the ignition
switch, through the inductive pickup loop and then out to the positive side
of the coil.

The MSD capasitive discharge system connects directly into both terminals of
the coil and they tell you in the directions that nothing else can be
connected to the coil. MSD does provide a tach output (a square wave w/ a
20% duty cycle) for a modern type tach, but unfortunately my Smiths is not a
modern type tach.

I'm thinking, here's where it gets dangerous, that I should try to hookup
the MSD tach output to the input side of my tach and ground a high impedance
load (same as a modern type tach) on the output that would normally go to
the coil. This way the Smiths tach will look like a modern tach to the MSD
system, but I'm not sure what type of signal the Smiths tach is looking for.
Any suggestions??
