Looking through my "Austin Healey Sprite MkI" shop manual(no, there was
no publishing date anywhere in the book to explain the 'MkI') shop
manual, I enjoyed all the little language differences, but the section
on metalworking with a 'blowpipe' really got my attention.
"Surrounding the area to be heated with wetted asbestos
fiber" was interesting, applying 'Tinman's solder' sounded odd, but
smoothing out the lead with a 'wad of hemp' really caught my eye.
Frequent wiping of hot metal with wads of hemp could explain the less
than perfect fit of the bugeye 'bonnets' eh? "Wow man, look at all
the cool swirlies in the metal!"
