Sounds like the electronic "Rust Evader" module that
came with my new/old MGBGT.  It is a box that is
attached to the firewall to magically eliminate rust. 
Found the receipt, the PO paid $269 for it.  Seems to
work well, even with the fuse disconnected.  Thinking
about ebay-ing it under the moniker P.T. Barnum...
