In response to the price gouging lousy car salesman comment. MSRP stands
for Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price. What the market will bear
determines actual cost. This is why a Lincoln Continental Sells for $8000
BELOW MSRP and an S2000 sells for $8000 ABOVE MSRP. I had a guy call me
one day asking for our "best price" on a new Ranger PU. I told him to save
him the hassle of calling around that I would be happy to accept a 3%
margin. When he complained that was too high, I asked him what line of work
he was in. He said he sold funeral related products. When I asked him
their mark up, he replied, "75-80%". I then asked if anyone ever negotiated
for a better deal. He replied, "How can you put a price tag on the memory
of a loved one?" Now who is the lousy scum-sucking salesperson in this
senario?
Still your friend & fellow enthusiast, agreeing to disagree.
