BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Honda North America set the price of the car, this "skimming" absolutley
disgusts me. David, if you ever wondered why the general public holds car
dealers and car salesmen in such contempt, this is why.
Let me recall a few great examples of this haneous price gouging:
The Miata when it first came out (wasn't the MSRP at $13k?)
Buick Grand National (market was way out of hand, but it crashed many years
ago)
Corvette ZR-1 "" "" "" ""
Acura NS-X: this $50k car when it came out sold up to $100,000 at first.
Honda intended the car to be hot b/c it is the genuine article AND sold for
so much less than a Z3, SLK or Boxster. Obviously, the dealer network sees
otherwise, and will penalize both Honda and the consumer out of sheer greed.
Sadly, the demand may well be there to stuff Honda dealer's pockets, or will
it?
Knowing well that $10,000 of what I am paying is going straight to the middle
man, I am dangerously close to $40k. Hell, at this point put me in an M/Z3
roadster and I will smoke any S2000 at a light. Or a used Boxster.
My friends, the point has obviously been lost here, and any sensible spridget
owner will see this clearly.
Flame suit on, but I really doubt I'll need it.
