heater removal

I haven't seem this topic on the list yet, so I thought I would ask. I only
use my car in the summer(haven't had the top on in years) and that heater
and all those hoses take up so much space in that little engine bay, I'm
thinking of pulling all of it out to get better access to the battery,
cooler footwells, more air flow under the bonnet. Am I setting myself up for
future problems?
Perspiring minds want to know!
