Dear Gang,
My 25D dizzy started making a chirping sound today. The rate of chirps
varies with engine rpm, becoming almost an almost constant howl at higher
rpms, and the chirps are loudest at low rpm. I've used platic tube to
isolate the sound - it is loudest right where the cap joins the dizzy body.
I know that the breaker plates wobble some, and the tiing mark on the front
pulley bounces around a bit when I put a timing light on it. However, those
wear conditions have been with me for some time.
Any thoughts on this? Has anyone ever experienced this? I have a
mechanical-only advance dizzy waiting in the wings, but I've never tried
it. I guess now is the time for all good dizzies to come to the aid of
their party.
