Hi all,
Going out this weekend to look at another LBC (non-BMC, BL, etc.) that
needs a loving home. It's a '69 Ford Cortina GT, all original, mostly
complete (missing rear-end "pumpkin") but "is rusty". Years ago I
partially rebuilt a '68 Deluxe version into a GT and always wanted to
find and original GT to restore. The guy who has it says he's only the
2nd owner(!). It's been sitting outside for about 4 years so I don't
know what to expect. The owner has a couple of Elans he working on (what
he needed the pumpkin for) so he's probably not a DCO (dumb current
owner). He's only asking $500 but will take less due to another project
that "just showed up" in his driveway. Figured I would use Dave Vrba's
Spridget checklist (with modifications of course) to document
everything. I've also researched typical problems and things to look for
so I should be able to make a decent evaluation.
Sorry about the non-Spridget ramble but I really enjoy going on possible
"rescue" missions like this and wanted to share.
