Urgently needed to know... Is it possible for a private individual to transfer ownership of a car in California without paying sales tax on the car? (because it is being exported) I know that a licensed dealer can transfer a vehicle ownership, and, if they show proof that a licensed carrier is taking the car out of state, and not pay sales tax. Is it possible for a private individual to do the same in some way? Thanks. -- Trevor Boicey, P. Eng.
