Paul:
I took one apart recently to find out the inside was fried up more or
less. (larmenture had broken off, lose connections). I finally decided
to buy a 'new' one. I found out that pep boys (no kidding) sold one
for about $45 (whereas catalogues go for $65 or so) and you may keep
your old one.
So if you can't get it fixed, you might want to try the boys.
As to what larry said, once you have taken the two large bolts out,
you can open up the generator and from there on you can learn by
doing. It's not so difficult. That's what I found to be the most
interesting about my LBC (except driving it), I can figure out to fix
it.

BTW I will still get back on the questions on my side markers and fan.
Just haven't been home much to look.

There is an exploded view of the generator on my web site
http://www.ado13.com under "Tech Pages", "Bugeye Parts Manual", "Dynamo".
No details on taking one apart though. Basically you remove the two long
bolts that go all the way through the generator and the pull the rear cover
off. The brushes are located there and ride on the small end of the armature
held in place by small springs.
I have not had one apart in a long time but I'm sure someone will provide
more details.

Subject: Installing new brushes in a generator?
> Well, here I go again with the generator questions. I was told by a
friend that the generator may only need new brushes installed. If that is
the case, then how do I do this? What do the brushes look like anyway? Is
there a web site (preferably with pictures) that could answer these
questions?
