Dear Dick:
I think you should check the toe-in of the front tires. Sounds like the
tie-rods may have worked themselves loose.
The toe-in on the Sprites/Midgets should be about 1/8" narrower in the front
of the front tires vs. the back of the front tires. This is such an easy
thing to measure I think I'd start there.
Gerty was "hopping" all over the place last year when I'd hit the slightest
bump. Then, I checked the front alignment and discovered my toe-in had
turned to toe-out! A quick couple of turns on the links solved the problem.
