Hey Peter, have you ever driven 3 hours at night with Halogens, wipers
on, defroster blowing and a radio?
The generator does not last that long. It works but only for about 2.5
hours. That's when you see just how good your battery is.
I went through this every year returning from Carlise.  I lost the
battery about 5 miles from home! Not any more, I have an alternator and
nice bright headlamps.
Same problem, different Sprites all with generators. (never happened
with stock headlights though)

Stock headlights and the generator keeps up (at least 3 hours)
