I used a full (twin box) RC40 years ago and it is a pain to fit. For several
years now I have just used a length of straight pipe from the manifold to a
RC40 Back box. I heat the length of pipe on the kitchen stove to but a slight
bend in it, to aid fitting. The RC40 back box is positioned such that the
tail pipe is a mile to long and is cut to suit. I have no back bumbers on my
car but use what was the bumber bracket to hang the back box using V W or
whatever clamping bracket I can get hold of. The rest of the brackets are
similiar in that whenever they need replacing I go to an exhaust shop and
rummage around till I find what I need. I buy the straight pipe in a standard
length and also cut to suit. I make a flange (step up/down) for the straight
pipe from an offcut of larger (you might need smaller depending...) pipe that
I get someone to weld on for me.
It is a bit of aggro but lasts years (with the mileage I do) and the whole lot
never costs more than about £30 +/- (say $50).
Trust this helps and sorry about the detail but I don't think I ever hang the
system the same way twice. Main think is just buy the back box on its own.
