Today's Dumb Question

I have tried three different suppliers for the crank pulley nut lock washer.
What I got from all three is a dished washer without the tab for the keyway.
When I asked, I was told that this is the latest style and the other is NLA.
How in the %^*^% is this thing supposed to lock the nut?
