1/4 elliptic banjo

Is there any difference b/n the bugeye banjo (axle housing) and the
disk brake MkII banjo?

I don't think there is, but a friend is having some interference problems
(with panhard rod) after fitting a bugeye's banjo that I gave him. His old
banjo was cracking (again) near the tower and he figured it had been 
repaired enough times already. He suspects they may be a difference
b/n the banjos.

I'm going to look at the car over the weekend, but perhaps someone out
there has some ideas...
