Another possibility is that the mechanical advance springs (or even one of them) have come loose or broken, allowing the timing to advance fully at a very low rpm. Put a timing light on it and watch how far the timing marks move just off of idle. It shouldnt spring all the way up to full advance in a hurry. Also grab the rotor and make sure the advance works at all! sometimes they stick, and can stick anywhere from none to full advance.  |
