wire to disc wheel conversion

Just curious,
 Is converting to steel (disc) wheels from wires as easy as changing out
the front hub and rotor and the rear half-shaft assemblys or is there more
to it?
I had heard that the entire rear axle housing would need to be swapped.
True or false ?
