Speaking of small suppliers, Sierra Specialty Automotive in Quincy Ca, sells
a kit to convert the 10SI and 12SI alternators that were standard equipment
on GM cars and light trucks from mid-’72 through the late ‘80’s to a
1-Wire. You can probably find one of these alternators in the junk yard.
Current list price of the 1-Wire conversion kit with US-made regulator and a
plastic terminal plug is $14.95. A conversion and rebuild kit, which
contains a condenser, brushes, brush holder, 4 case screws, output terminal
kit w/plastic insulator and made-in-USA front and rear bearings and diode
trio in addition to the 1-Wire regulator and plastic plug, lists for $34.95.
Shipping is $4 for most orders.
