Hi!
Well, it's about time to start getting ready for this year's Encounter in
Gettysburg.
But I have a question about an oil leak. Last year I rebuilt the engine -
the 1098. Because the transmission didn't seem to have any problems, I left
it alone and only changed fluid. Now I'm seeing an oil leak along bottom of
the trans near the bellhousing drain hole. It almost looks like there's oil
on the cotter pin in this hole and oil is along the bottom of the engine
backplate. The back of the oil pan is dry though. There doesn't seem to
being any clutch chatter and it grabs smooth and tight now that I shortened
the pushrod in the MC.
Any ideas about the leak?? The engine and tranny drain plugs were slightly
loose and I just retightend and wiped everything off. Could this be a
problem with the rear main seal, or could the seal on the trans input shaft
be shot?? If it's the trans seal, how hard is this to change?? Is there a
way to tell the source of the leak without pulling the engine??
Thanks,
Hope to see a lot of you at Encounter. This will be our first year!!
Jason.
