The Datsun speedo out put is on the right side of the gearbox.
Easy it is NOT, even with the tranny out.
It is however a piece of cake if you cut a 4" square access hole in the
middle of the floor under the gearbox. I did simply because I cut my
hand to shreds trying to fit the cable to the box. I broke the first
cable trying to install the box with cable making loop-d-loops around it
while trying to install it the first time.
It is possible to do it from the shifter hole (hope you have small
hands, petite wife, or mechanically gifted youngsters)
The Datsun cable has a peg on it making it fit the gearbox only one way
when the peg and slot are lined up.
So line up the peg and slot, while inserting the cable and tightening it
all thru that hole with an oversized gearbox in the same hole.
NO FUN, not impossible but have beers on ice.
I cut a 4" hole in the floor and just "zap" screwed a piece of
sheetmetal over the hole. It makes the cable a vey simple task from
under the car.
As far as attaching the cable to the gearbox, I used a piece of thin
copper, drilled a hole in it, mounted the metal to the box and bent it
into a "J" around the cable.
Any small pipe clamp will work. (check plumbing box in basement)

Good luck.
