Here's a suggestion: You've already reinstalled the original (seeping)
drain tap. This means that the new (useless) drain tap is available for
parts matching and comparison. Go to a local auto parts store, find a
friendly counter person, and see if you can get a workable match (in terms
of thread and sealing). If that fails, try a plumbing supply place. Worst
case, you'll be able to match up to a bolt that will suffice until a really
good solution is found.
Take a deep breath, and hang in there.
