I'm running a 286 cam in a 9.9:1 1380cc engine. I used to have a 266 cam
and the power increase is significant. It is also more willing to rev. The
torque is significantly greater at revs over 3000 rpm. I am happy with it.
The car certainly has oomph, so maybe it isn't as big a duration as you
think.
Pick up a degree wheel and check it out yourself. Just turn the engine over
with the valve cover off and note down the opening and closing degrees for
inlet and exhaust. You can also check to see if it is a scatter cam.
You can't go over about 10:1 here with pump petrol. It may be different over
there with the petrol you guys use.
