Hi Jim,

I didn't do the 5-speed conversion myself, but my '71 had it when I
bought it (a major selling point, in my view), and I love it. The car
keeps up well with "modern" traffic and boy, is it ever fun to drive
(the 4.22 rear end helps too). The "feel" is a little different than
the stock tranny, and I had a hard time getting used to the shift
pattern after driving my stock '74 all this time, but I think it's just
great. I don't know that I would attempt a conversion myself, but I
still consider myself relatively new at all this mechanical stuff. If
you have the skills to do it, though, you won't be sorry.

Don't assume that because you have found one problem, you have found the
ONLY problem.
