Thanks for the responses. I intend to pull the engine/tranny soon for
overhaul. Machine work on the engine is anticipated. In more youthful days I
would have pulled the engine myself, but now I'm willing to pay for someone
with knowledge of Midgets to get the heavy stuff out. I'm willing to ship the
tranny off for rebuild if necessary, and the engine to a good machine shop, but
I really want someone who's gutted MG's before to at least coordinate those
efforts and get the car reassembled at the end of it all. What I don't want is
the local Chevy guru to learn about MG's using my car as his first training
experience. I had a good lesson as a small-town teenager: the wrong kind of
"rebuild" leaves your car worse off than no rebuild at all!

looking for quality work (with a quality price!) try British Auto
Specialists in Haltom City. There's also SportsCar Parts Warehouse in
Arlington... never had any work done there myself but Byron (the owner) is
into all kinds of British cars.
Which flavor of MG are you having restored?
