Last fall I put an electric in my 78. Not sure of the brand, but I can
check if you want. The biggest issue I have to deal with are the increase
in gauge temp when at a stop light. I drove the car in 90 degree weather
and as long as I was moving it was at th 12 o'clock spot. when stopped it
goes to the 1:15. Not quite to the red. (just nervous) The other issue is
I put the fan in front of the rad and I had to trim some plastic off the
housing. Other than that I love it. No more high pitched whine when
running - just the engine and exhaust. If you haven't driven a Midget w/
an electric fan you would be amazed at how much noise the fan generates
compared to "no" fan. I can hear much better [sic] what is going on in
the engine than I could ever beleive. IMHO go electric for drivability,
replace the fan clutch (if that is the problem) for historical reasons.
