I thought I was finished with the front end on this new Bugeye. I've had the
wheels on for a couple of weeks now so that I can roll it around to get it
ready for painting. When I installed the hubs and bearings I just spun the
nuts on enough that the hubs didn't wobble. Last night when I went to
tighten them up and install the split pins, I discovered that the bearings
will not compress enough to clear the split pin hole. The nut needs to go at
least 2 more turns maybe 3. I currently have the crush washer (spacer)
installed as recommended by Don Racine at Mini Mania. I'm going to try it
without the crush washer and see what happens.
Questions:
1. Has anyone installed the roller bearings on the front of a Bugeye?
2. Did you have any problems?
3. Did you user the crush washers?
TIA
