AD4APg-Mini Mania has stub axle assemblies with the king pin bushes reamed in
AD4APg-(did I get all that right?) on sale this month. Is it time to get out
AD4APg-my checkbook?
AD4-
AD4-Unless Mini Mani is selling these for around +ACQ-400's both sides, you
don't
AD4-have to buy the stub axel assemblies. Usually they can be rebuilt with no
AD4-problem. You will also have to (well should) rebuild the A-Arms while you
AD4-are at it.
AD4-
AD4-A major front end kit costs between +ACQ-150 and +ACQ-200. A-arms are
+AH4- +ACQ-80's a
AD4-side rebuilt, or do what Ulix just did and do them yourself. If you wait a
AD4-few things will happen.
AD4-
AD4-You can have the kingpin bushings (they come with the major kit) pressed in
AD4-and reamed at Apple hydrolics. Contact Roger Moment about this as well, as
AD4-I seem to remember that he was doing this with a special setup that is
AD4-better than the traditional stepped reamer we usually use. He was also
AD4-charging less than apple. (Alos check local clubs, some clubs have the
tool
AD4-that you can borrow for free)
AD4-
AD4-If you leave it like it is, your car will not handle as well, risking an
AD4-accident. Remember people tend not to see these cars as well and you need
AD4-to be able to get out of their way.
AD4-
AD4-You will also go through tires pretty fast (replacements will run you a
nice
AD4-chunk of change)
AD4-
AD4-
AD4-Continued driving will wear your parts until you have ruined them from
being
AD4-usable cores (that will cost you +AH4AJA-80)
AD4-
AD4-About playing with fire, the wear could get so severe that the car could
AD4-wreck. If you watch it closely, this shouldn't happen, but I found out
AD4-during a front end inspection that my A-arm had craked at the fulcrum pin,
AD4-and only had about 1/8th inch of metal left before that tire literally laid
AD4-down. I stopped all other projects that day, and placed my front end on
top
AD4-of the list.
AD4-
AD4-Personally I think that +ACM-1 your brakes should always be kept perfect,
AD4-followed closely with steering then suspension. If you can stop the car
and
AD4-get over to the side of the road, other problems will usually have no
AD4-opportunity to KILL anybody. If you throw a rod safety wise, bug deal, if
AD4-your brakes go, BIG DEAL+ACEAIQAh-
AD4-
AD4-Patton (who just rambled on to long just to say, +ACI-yea, I think you
should
AD4-rebuild it+ACI-)
