car purchase

Fellow Listers: Trying to make a decision on a car purchase for a daughter.
Found a 1977 Midget for sale, 70k original miles always been in a garage,
absolutely perfect shape. Wife argues that a Metro or other small car would
be better for her due to reliability issues. I say maint. would be easier
and cheaper over the long run. Plus its a LBC. Any input would be
appreciated. Help !!!! or explain to me why she could be right in her
reasoning.
