OK all you engine rebuild veterans,

I'm putting together my 1098, and I remember reading somewhere (recently) that
a certain type of head gasket needs to be soaked in water before fitting -
I assume this is to activate the sealant that is coated on the faces. My
head gasket seems to have something coating the faces, so my questions are:
1) If I soak it, should I fit it while still wet, or leave it to dry?
2) If it is not the type that needs to be soaked, will soaking it be
   detrimental?

Thanks in advance,

Phil
